The routines are codified in Scilab which is a high level scientific language developed at INRIA and at ENPC, similar in some way to MATLAB or IDL, but distributed for free.

It also makes use of the Otsu Thresholding plugin of the Image Processing and Analysis Library in Java (ImageJ) to make contour extraction from the images. In addition the ImageMagick free libraries are needed to deal with the input/outoput graphics. No specific hardware configuration is needed, the software runs over normal PC with a processor similar to Pentium IV at 1.4 Ghz.
